Memory Quilt

With the recent graduation of my daughter and my new found enjoyment of quilting, I decided that all the t-shirts, gymnastics leotards and misc. other items she'd collected over the years should be transformed into a memory quilt.

Many of the t-shirts and leotards were smaller making it a challenge to do similar sized blocks. I choose to piece the blocks into 18 inches consisting of multiple pieces. Working with the knit material of the t-shirts and leos was a much larger project than I expected. I spent as much time blocking them with stabilizer as I did on the rest of the entire project. 

I started out thinking I would keep each block to a theme but quickly decided that it would be better to just look at how the colors and patterns went together. 

 The quilting was done by stitching in the ditch and the binding was machine stitched. It might not win any quilting competitions but my daughter loved it.
